Intro
A lot of people keep asking me how to get started with Framer, and honestly, it’s one of those questions I get so often that I figured it made sense to write a blog about it. If you're someone who's curious about Framer or thinking about diving into it seriously, this guide should help you understand what it is, how it works.

So... What Even Is Framer?
Framer is a browser-based website design tool that lets you build fully responsive, interactive websites and publish them live without writing a single line of code. It feels like a design tool but works like a modern website builder, which makes it super beginner-friendly.
It actually started way back in 2013 as a JavaScript library called Framer.js that was used to create realistic UI interactions. Over time, it turned into Framer Studio, then Framer X, and now it's the version most people use today, a powerful no-code tool that's being used by freelancers, startups, and even big teams.
Why Framer?
There are tons of website builders out there, but Framer stands out for a few reasons:
Easy to get started:
If you’ve used tools like Figma before, Framer will feel super familiar. The learning curve is minimal, and you can start building right away.Instant publishing:
No need to export or hand off your design. Just hit publish, and your site is live — with free hosting included.Built-in animations:
Want smooth scroll, hover effects, or page transitions? Framer lets you add all of that without plugins or code. It just works.Responsive design made simple:
Your site automatically adapts to different screen sizes. Designing for mobile and desktop feels seamless.Perfect for real-world use:
Whether it’s a personal portfolio, a client project, or a startup landing page, Framer gives you full creative control and production-ready results.

Don’t overthink it. Just pick a template you like from Framer Marketplace and start editing it. Change the text, swap images, move stuff around. That’s the fastest way to get comfortable.Watch a couple of good tutorials:

Pick a clean site you like and try to rebuild it in Framer from scratch. You’ll learn layout, responsiveness, and how to handle spacing just by doing.Experiment daily:
Open Framer every day, even if it’s just for 30 minutes. Try something new, like adding a hover effect or making a mobile version of your design.Publish your work:
Don’t wait till it’s perfect. Hit publish, share the link, get feedback, and improve. That’s how you actually learn.

Pro Tip: Recreate Real Websites
One of the best ways to improve quickly is to pick a real site, like a startup landing page or a personal portfolio, and try rebuilding it in Framer from scratch.
You might get stuck and have to figure things out along the way. But that’s exactly the point. You’ll learn how layouts work, how spacing behaves, and how responsiveness affects everything. And with each project, you’ll get a little better.
How Long Does It Take to Learn Framer?
Honestly, it depends on how much time you put in. If you practice every day, even just a little, you can start feeling comfortable in 2 to 4 weeks. For some people, it might take a couple of months, and that’s totally fine. The key is to keep building.
The more you use Framer, the easier it gets. It really starts to feel like muscle memory.
